What do we do?

The Emergency Needs Task Force of Pulaski County (ENTF) offers a variety of temporary assistance for residents or transients who are experiencing a financial crisis. Households with total income at or below 200% of the federal income poverty guidelines are eligible for assistance. ENTF aids with food, rent/mortgage, utility, heating fuel, prescription medication (non-controlled narcotics or narcotic), gasoline/transportation to get to doctor or new employment.

Rent or Mortgage

For rent or mortgage payments, a partial payment may be made, and the household is required to pay the remainder of the amount owed or have a written payment agreement between tenant and landlord/property owner.

Utilities

Utility assistance requires a termination notice or must be disconnected. For heating fuel assistance, the household’s fuel tank must be out of heating fuel or approximately 10% remaining.

Prescriptions

Assistance with prescriptions is considered on a case-by-case basis. Referrals for hearing aids or glasses are made to the Lion’s Club.

Homeless

For people who are homeless, initial referrals are made to the NRCA Central Intake office at 540-639-3159, Shelter referrals may be made to New River Family Shelter (540) 382-6188, To Our House (Nov.-Mar.) (540) 382-6188, or Women’s Resource Center (540) 639-1123 and others as appropriate. Transportation to the shelters may be considered if available.

Transportation

People needing transportation for medical access are referred to Med-Ride before approving for gasoline payment. Gasoline payments are limited to doctor’s appointments, homeless shelter, job interviews or before first payroll check is received.

Food Pantry

Households may receive from the ENTF food pantry once every 30 days.
